Ogunquit’s most whimsical summer tradition is back—and it’s bigger, bolder, and floatier than ever! The Anything That Floats event is set to make waves on Saturday, August 17 at the Main Beach riverside area, and you won’t want to miss a minute of the fun.
🛶 What Exactly Is “Anything That Floats”?
It’s part race, part art show, and 100% fun. Teams of locals and visitors alike construct floatable crafts using barrels, cardboard, pool noodles, or anything else they can dream up—as long as it floats! Whether you’re paddling a pirate ship made of plastic bottles or cheering from the shore, it’s a guaranteed good time.
And yes, the more outrageous the design, the better.
🎭 Expect the Unexpected
The fun kicks off with registration at 12:30 PM, followed by a parade of the floats on the Ogunquit River from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Some floats will glide, others may wobble—and a few might sink—but every single one will bring big smiles and belly laughs.
Prizes are awarded for:

- Most Creative Design
- Best Team Spirit
- Funniest Float
- …and even Best Sink!

Just show up with your float and your team by 12:30 PM at the Main Beach riverside. Entry is free and open to all ages. Life jackets are required for participants.
