Costumes, decorated storefronts, car shows, dressed-up dogs, and the always-entertaining High Heel Dash helped make OgunquitFest another memorable fall weekend in Southern Maine.
Ogunquit was filled with Halloween spirit this past weekend as OgunquitFest returned October 23–25, bringing locals and visitors together for three days of costumes, entertainment, shopping and plenty of seasonal fun.

From creative costumes and four-legged trick-or-treaters to the hilarious High Heel Dash in Perkins Cove, the annual celebration once again showed why Ogunquit is such a fun place to visit after the busy summer season.
While the scheduled events were a big part of the weekend, decorations throughout town added to the atmosphere, with businesses and residents embracing the Halloween spirit.
🎃 A Costume Parade Full of Halloween Creativity

One of the highlights of OgunquitFest was the chance to see everyone showing off their Halloween costumes.
The festivities brought out an entertaining mix of spooky, funny, clever, and creative outfits, with kids and adults getting into the fun.
From classic Halloween characters to imaginative homemade costumes, the celebration gave families and friends a chance to dress up, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and take part in one of Southern Maine’s favorite fall traditions.
There’s something particularly fun about seeing a seaside town known for beaches and summer vacations transformed into a Halloween destination.

🐶 Dogtoberfest Brings Out the Best-Dressed Pups
Of course, humans weren’t the only ones getting dressed up for OgunquitFest!
The popular Dogtoberfest costume parade gave four-legged visitors their own moment in the spotlight.
Dogs sporting Halloween costumes are always good for a few laughs, and the event has become a favorite for animal lovers who enjoy seeing just how creative pet owners can get.
Whether the costumes are elaborate or wonderfully simple, there’s something entertaining about watching dogs parade through town in their Halloween best.
Dogtoberfest also adds another family-friendly element to the weekend, making OgunquitFest a celebration that even furry family members can enjoy.

👠 The High Heel Dash Delivers Plenty of Laughs
If one OgunquitFest tradition stands out for its mix of creativity, athletic determination, and outright hilarity, it’s the High Heel Dash in Perkins Cove.
This popular event challenges participants to race in high heels, creating a spectacle that’s as entertaining for spectators as it is challenging for runners.

Costumes, colorful personalities, and enthusiastic crowds add to the fun.
The High Heel Dash also supports the Frannie Peabody Center, an organization providing HIV/AIDS prevention and support services in Maine.
It’s a great example of how OgunquitFest combines humor, community spirit, and support for a worthwhile cause.

👻 Halloween Decorations Transform Ogunquit
Beyond the parades and organized activities, one of the best parts of OgunquitFest was simply seeing the town dressed up for Halloween.
Seasonal displays added plenty of personality to storefronts, businesses, and properties throughout Ogunquit.
Pumpkins, skeletons, ghosts, cobwebs, and other creative decorations helped turn an ordinary stroll through town into a Halloween adventure.
Some displays leaned into the season’s spooky side, while others were playful, colorful, and downright funny.
The decorations also made a great backdrop for photos and gave visitors another reason to wander around town, browse the shops and stop into local businesses.
It’s always fun to see how much creativity goes into making Ogunquit festive for the season.

🍁 More Than Just Halloween Fun
OgunquitFest isn’t just about costumes and Halloween decorations.
The annual celebration also gives visitors a reason to experience Ogunquit during one of the year’s most enjoyable times.
With cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and a different pace than the summer months, October offers a chance to explore the town from another perspective.
Visitors can enjoy downtown shops and restaurants, walk Marginal Way, explore Perkins Cove, and spend time at Ogunquit Beach.
The festival’s mix of activities and entertainment also helps bring people into local businesses during the fall shoulder season.
For shops, restaurants, and other businesses that welcome visitors year-round, events like OgunquitFest help keep the town lively well beyond Labor Day.
